Galeria São Mamede

Art Gallery / Príncipe Real

At the end of the 60s, the São Mamede Gallery opened its doors very close to Largo do Rato, on Rua da Escola Politécnica, in a Pombaline building, almost opposite the Attorney General's Office and the Church of São Mamede. He has always dedicated himself exclusively to Portuguese modernism and the contemporary movement, with occasional exhibitions by foreign artists. He has had an intense and quality artistic activity, supported by "classical" artists who have always been linked to the Gallery (such as Areal, Cesariny, Cruzeiro Seixas or Nadir Afonso) but also, and above all, new artists. In 2005 it expanded to the city of Porto and in 2018 it expanded its facilities in Lisbon, opening a new exhibition space 50 meters from the original facilities, at Rua Maestro Pedro Freitas Branco, 11 A/B.

Príncipe Real

An "alternative" neighbourhood, with a lot of charisma and attitude. And also with a lot of style. A very own style that has been assuming itself as innovative concepts, fashion studios and concept stores have established themselves in this area with typical street areas, but often concentrated in palatial buildings with features and services characteristic of a shopping gallery. This is the case of Embaixada Portuguese Gallery Shopping, which brings together a new generation of Portuguese entrepreneurs with a differentiating offer and great focus on national production.
