Pastelaria "O Careca"

Pastries and Coffes / Belém e Restelo

Pastelaria Restelo, better known as "O Careca", was founded in 1954 in Bairro do Restelo, having become one of the most emblematic landmarks in this area. Those who live there make the terrace of this pastry shop a meeting point for delicious breakfasts, or for long breaks on weekend afternoons. But fame goes beyond the borders of the neighborhood and nowadays it is rare to find someone who has never eaten a croissant or a palmiere from O Careca, or who has not heard of these delicacies.

But on this court, the famous croissants and palmieres have a worthy competitor: the Bolo Rei. The recipe is more than 5 decades old and some say that the secret is to bet more on dried fruits and less on candied fruit.

Belém, a place of memory, culture and beauty A walk through Belém is a journey through history, as this is the neighbourhood with the largest concentration of heritage sites and museums in the country. And not even the usual bustle of tourists circulating through its streets and gardens cancels out the tranquillity with which the Tejo on the horizon offers us in all its splendour.
