Also known as Nossa Senhora do Livramento e de São José Church, this church was built in memory of the assassination attempt on King D. José by the Távora family, which occurred in 1758. It is a baroque construction with neoclassical features, which stands out for its balanced and harmonious lines, and is crowned by a sundial. The interior, a church-hall with a single nave, is characterised by its sobriety, making the carved marbles and the altar screen deserving of a special mention. Since 1923, the illustrious figure of Marquês de Pombal has rested in this place where his memories are perpetuated.
