The 20th century world exhibition dedicated to the theme "The oceans, a heritage for the future" also marked the inauguration of the Lisbon Oceanarium, the second largest oceanarium on the Iberian Peninsula. It has been open to the public since 1998 and boasts an extensive collection of species such as birds, mammals, fish and other inhabitants of the marine world. Considered a unique place not only for its exhibitions, educational and research area, but also for its architectural beauty, the Lisbon Oceanarium receives about 1 million visitors per year, being the most visited cultural space in Portugal.

Developed on the site that was the stage for Expo'98, Parque das Nações that has quickly won over companies, hotels and residents who have surrendered to its qualities, is the most modern neighbourhood in the Portuguese capital. But this new area to the East of Lisbon is also a place of enjoyment for all outdoor sports enthusiasts, lovers of gardens and green parks and lovers of art, culture and entertainment, locals or visitors. In an area of 340 hectares - a third of which is occupied by green spaces - which stretches for five kilometres along the Tejo River, the Parque das Nações is a paradise for runners, cyclists, skaters and walkers who find here the ideal conditions for the practice of sports in a natural environment.
