Ler Devagar

Book Shops / Alcântara

  • © LX Factory

Ler Devagar was founded in 1999 in the former premises of Litografia de Portugal, in Bairro Alto. It has passed through several spaces in Bairro Alto and Braço de Prata since it opened its doors, but it was at the Lx Factory, in Alcântara, that it settled in 2009, and where it remains today. Ler Devagar has always been known for its irreverent atmosphere and concept where bookstore, art gallery, concert hall and bar intersect.

Known for its imponderable bicycle suspended from the ceiling, this bookstore is also distinguished by the multiple singularities of its space. The place belonged to an old printing shop before the bookstore occupied the space, so it is still possible to find some of its machinery. With two floors, galleries with temporary and permanent exhibitions, auditorium, disco, restaurant and bar, Ler Devagar will be a mandatory stop on the reader's itinerary.
