Casa-Museu Medeiros e Almeida
Museus e Espaços Culturais / Castilho
Passionate about art, António de Medeiros e Almeida (1895-1986), a figure of the social and business elite of the Portuguese 20th century, dedicated much of his life to gathering a vast and precious collection of works of art, ranging from furniture, goldsmithery, jewellery, textiles and important clusters of watches and Chinese porcelain. His collection, which according to experts reflects an eclectic and cosmopolitan taste, is available at the foundation created by him in 1972, located in the house where he lived for over 30 years and transformed into the House-Museum. This space houses, to date, around nine thousand works of art, thus keeping alive the work and memory of its creator.
