This University of Lisbon pole in Alto da Ajuda, on lands adjacent to those of the Instituto Superior de Agronomia, was built to house the new facilities of the Faculty of Architecture, followed by those of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the Instituto Superior de Ciências Sociais e Políticas, the cafeteria, the restaurant and the Centre for Physical Activity and Recreation (CEDAR). Some of the aims of this Pole were to establish a connection between the different faculties, as well as to connect the space with the rest of the city of Lisbon through the construction of a new public space.
