Best Italian restaurants in Lisbon
It is on October 25th that the World Pasta Day is celebrated all over the world. To celebrate the date, it is essential to visit an Italian restaurant and enjoy a tasty pasta dish.
The word “dough” corresponds, in general terms, to an unleavened bread dough, which results from the mixture of cereal flour and water, and can be molded into more than 600 shapes, giving rise to the most different types of dough, which ranging from spaghetti, penne and tagliatelle to cannelloni, gnocchi and lasagna, among others.
It was at the 1st World Pasta Congress, held in Rome, in 1995, that the idea of creating a date dedicated to pasta emerged, which was established in 1998 by the International Pasta Organization. This is a time to remember the importance of pasta for a healthy and balanced diet and the benefits of its consumption.
Nowadays, the origin of pasta is still debatable, but the historical version indicates that the pasta has Arab origins, as they were the ones who introduced pasta into Italian culture, especially in Sicily, in the 9th century. Italy continues today to be the biggest reference when it comes to the preparation and consumption of pasta around the world.
Did you know that… Portugal is one of the 20 largest consumers of pasta in the world, with 6.6 kg per capita per year? It is believed that the pioneer of the introduction of pasta in Portuguese cuisine was the cook of Queen D. Maria I, in 1785.
